Ruapehu Golf Club

Kia ora Members its that time of the week again for the weekly update!

Today the Sunday haggle had 30 players show up to play, the day started off fine but by the second half of the day the weather changed with a bit of rain setting in to make the conditions a bit more tougher! ( I felt it 😂)

We had 4 grades today-

Ladies grade for the second time in a row was taken out by Pieta Gilbert with a whooping 51 points! Yang Pin Sun took second place with 31 points and Cheryl Ross took third place with 26 points.

A grade was taken out by the club captain Scott Irwin (Tiger Hood😂) shooting a stunning 69 of the stick to score 43 points.
Andy Entwisle took second with a nice 38 points and Gavin Murray grabbed third with 37 points.

B grade was won by one of newest and ever consistent Bradley Gardiner with 36 points, second place was John Bell with 33 points and third place went to Pat Pikari 32 points.

C grade had only two players Joshua Crystal and Tuharakia Mcleod. The second week in a row Joshua won with 38 points and Tuharakia scored second just behind with 35 points!

Two’s were scored by Golds Edmonds Rex Harding and Wally Hayes.
Well done to all our winners and please collect your prize from the pro shop when it’s open.

Also want to acknowledge our Little dude Turahakia Mcleod for being the only Junior boy, who is still in primary school that always turns up with his parents Sophia Wallace and Joey Mcleod on Sundays to play the haggle, 18 holes and gives it his all! He also entered a loves golf competition that he won talking about his story of how much he loves golf and where he comes from. Proud as to have him as a junior member! You are the future our little dude, congratulations on your win and also for your second place above! 👏🎉

News-

Jacinda may be announcing level one. If level one goes ahead we will go back to normal. Only thing that we want to change is the tee times for Sunday haggles in the winter. Because of the cold short days and people wanting to get home earlier to their families. We thought tee times should be earlier from 9am-11am that way everyone’s back in at a decent hour we can have prize-givings and we should be home before dark, that’s if you can leave the bar 😜.. Just baring in mind too that our green keeper Anton does not like anyone on the greens until the frost lifts. So if it’s a frost maybe wait till 10-10.30 to tee off.

So next Sunday we will take this in to effect if level 1 goes ahead tomorrow. This information will be posted on the website and in the bulletin. Please let your fellow members know also so people know what’s going on. There will be no tee offs entered after 11am.

Also there are forms up in the foyer on the notice board for the up and coming tournaments to register your names. I will be posting up some calendar dates in the next week with what dates everything will be happening. Manson and cascade cups etc.

To finish off we just want to acknowledge our bar manager Joshua Evans! Mate you are a great asset to our club, you have been putting in the hours for the club, your passion and determination to keep the club moving forward is awesome. All your hard work is not going unnoticed, from the early opens to the late closures and just your mahi in general is unbelievable, great to have you on our team 😊

And just everyone in general!! You all play a part in keeping our club thriving moving forward, the numbers are outstanding! The positivity is a beautiful thing out there. The support system around us 🥰
I love our club and our people! 💪

Nga mihi,
Kim and the committee!!
